Sailing into our 8th Week!
Week of October 17th
Room 22
This week students began their research on habitats and animals. We started researching animals that live in our native forest habitat using iPads and books. Check out our picture slideshow from our homepage to see highlights from our week!
You can refer to the attached study guide to get ready for our habitat test. We will be testing our knowledge of habitats closer to the end of the month (tentatively Oct. 27th).
We have worked hard this week to show the 3 Rs and be bucket fillers. Since we filled up our class bucket we will celebrate with game day on Monday October 17th. Students are allowed to bring in a board game to use during recess on Monday.
Ways to extend learning at home:
*Ask your child to compare 3 digit numbers and explain how they knew which number was greater (Ex: compare 456 and 123).
*Have your child identify 3 events that happen in the story and retell them in sequential order *Ask your child to explain what is different between a desert and a forest habitat
Looking Ahead
Math- Next week, we will work on comparing 3 digit numbers using greater than, less than, and equals symbols (<, >, and =)
Content- Students will continue to research animals that live in our native habitat.
Reading- This week we will continue retelling events in stories. Have your child continue to read at home and answer questions about what they have read.
Writing- Students will continue to write about their own experiences or small moments. We will focus on ways to help add detail and bring our stories to life!
