Welcome Winter Week Ahead
Week of December 5th
Room 22
We have jumped right back into lots of learning in 2nd grade. We started double digit subtraction this week! Students did a great job applying fast facts and should continue to use Reflex math or flash cards to keep up their addition and subtraction facts. Next week, we will start working on double digit subtraction with regrouping.
In social studies, we have been learning about geography and identify continents, oceans, and American landmarks. We also started researching American Indians using online resources and nonfiction texts! We even had a in-class field trip to hear from an American Indian expert.
In reading, we are working on identifying and describing characters. We described our characters by physical traits (the outside) and on the inside by describing their feelings.
Ways to extend learning at home:
*Ask your child to complete double digit problems without regrouping Ex: 47 56 -34 -23
*Have your child explain the steps of double digit subtraction in words or drawings *Ask your child to share one way to describe a character they reading about on the inside and the outside
*Have your child identify the the rocky mountains and rio grande river on a map of the United States
