April Showers Lead to Weather Experts
Week of April 24th
Room 22
Thank you so much to all the families who made it to STEAM night! We have a very exciting week ahead of us! Students will be sharing their completed poems and book donations with 1st graders. These donations would not have been possible without the support from 2nd grade families. If you ordered a 2nd grade poetry book, you will receive your copy this week!
This week, we are finishing up our study of weather. Students have been immersed in the study of meteorology over the past two weeks. They worked to research weather tools, weather patterns, and weather safety. The students will explain their research to others using the green screen in our library this week! Be on the lookout for our completed videos on our PBL tab soon! Our weather test will be on Friday!
In math, we will begin to count sets of coins Students will be responsible for learning about the various types of coins and their values. I sent home visuals for students who were struggling with naming the coins last week. If you child brings home a set of coins this week, please review counting coins with them this week.
In writing, we will begin to develop and refine our opinion letter writing skills. We will be describing and persuading others to read our favorite books through letters.
Ways to extend learning at home:
*Ask your child to count sets of coins at home *Ask your child to describe the characters in the stories they read at home
*Ask your child to identify different weather tools they could use to tell the weather
